The Club

Malton Cricket Club was founded around 1879 and has been playing at the present Old Maltongate ground for more than 100 years. In 1995 the club merged with the neighbouring Old Malton CC and is now the only cricket club in the Malton & Norton area. During the merger in 1995 the club also joined forces with the local football and hockey clubs to create the fitzwilliam sports association and bring up to date changing and social facilities to Malton all on one site.

Over the years many famous cricketers have played here at Malton including Sir Leonard Hutton, Sir Garfield Sobers, Herbert Sutcliffe, Brian Close, Fred Trueman, Frank Worrell, David Byas and more recently Sherwin Campbell, Junior Murray and Richie Richardson to name but a few. Malton and Old Malton has had an illustrious past and we are now looking forward to bright future.

We run a successful senior section with 2 teams in the York and District Senior League and 2 teams in the York Vale league. In 2009 our First XI will be looking to gain promotion into the Premier Division of the Senior League.

Junior Cricket at Malton
We are committed to running a successful and friendly club with a view to the future by concentrating on the development of our junior section.

Junior coaching has taken place for over 30 years at Malton and the club now has seven members who have trained as ECB coaches. This will allow us to develop our junior sides even further. We take Junior cricket at Malton very seriously with over 90 juniors each week taking part in teams representing the U9, U11, U13, U15 and the intermediate (U18) age groups.

We are always looking for more volunteers to help with all our junior sections, if you are interested and can spare a few hours a week please contact us now.

The club relies soley on sponsorship and fundraising from our own events and we are always looking for new ideas and promotions. Anyone wishing to get involved or new players wishing to join the club can come down on match days, or contact the club in any of the various ways shown on the contact us page.
