Fundraising
The club relies completely on fundraising events and sponsorship. It is a very important part of running the club and allows us to develop the facilities for of all our members and guests.
In 1998 fundraising efforts helped us to demolish the century old pavilion at the Malton Cricket ground and build the new club house and electronic scoreboard, giving much improved facilities for members and visitors alike.
In 2004 we were host to a World Class Lashings XI where the money raised went towards our junior development program.
2005 was another busy year but we found time to stage our very first six-a-side tournament. With clubs from far and wide coming to our ground providing entertainment and a great days cricket. We are looking to make this a regular date in the calendar from now so watch this space for news in future seasons.
In July 2007 we hosted our second six-a-side competition, local pubs were invited to send teams to play mini Twenty20 Cricket in coloured clothing. Fun and games were run all day alongside the cricket with the overall competition won by the White Swan from Kirkbymoorside.
2008 finally saw the construction of our new all weather net facility at the Malton Cricket Ground. Costing more than £30,000 the money was raised from grants and fundraising events over the last few years. The two lane facility with full bowlers run-ups will be used by both senior and junior sections and will hopefully be made available for other clubs to use from 2009 onwards.
The club also runs a Grand Prize Draw with a prizes of up £100 each year, bonus ball, bag packing events at the local Morrisons Supermarket & a Race Night during the season.
Malton & Old Malton Cricket Club has had a good reputation in fundraising and sponsorship for over 10 years, we are now able to provide some of the best cricket facilities in North Yorkshire.
