About Us
Malton Cricket Club was founded around 1879 and has been playing at the present Old Maltongate ground for more than 100 years.The club merged with the neighbouring club from Old Malton in 1995 and is now the only cricket club in the Malton & Norton area.
In 1995 the club also joined forces with the local football and hockey clubs to create up to date changing and social facilities all on one site.
Over the years many famous cricketers have played here at Malton including Sir Leonard Hutton, Sir Garfield Sobers, Herbert Sutcliffe, Brian Close, Fred Trueman, Frank Worrell, David Byas and more recently Sherwin Campbell, Junior Murray and Richie Richardson to name but a few.
Malton and Old Malton has had an illustrious past and we are now looking forward to bright future.
We are committed to running a successful and friendly club with a view to the future by concentrating on the development of our junior section.
We also run a successful senior section with 2 teams in the York and District Senior League and 2 teams in the York Vale league with our First XI gaining promotion into the Premier Division of the Senior League in 2004.
The club relies soley on sponsorship and fundraising from our own events and we are always looking for new ideas and promotions. Anyone wishing to help out please let us know.
